Emily’s philosophy in patient care is about promoting a healing partnership to create empowerment and self-awareness, ultimately leading to optimum health. She earned a Master of Acupuncture from New England School of Acupuncture at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, holds a license from the NC Acupuncture Licensing Board, and is a diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Emily utilized Chinese and Japanese techniques to provide patient care during internships at notable facilities such as UMass Memorial Hospital’s Pain Clinic and Boston Medical Center’s Pediatric Pain Clinic. She is a volunteer of the Integrative Health Project which serves Guatemalan communities, which has allowed her to enhance her practical skills and gain worldly perspectives. Emily has experience in treating an array of conditions, but is most passionate about chronic and acute pain, mental health conditions, sleep disorders, and addiction recovery.
Before embarking on her acupuncture journey, she explored a diverse range of experiences, from earning a BS in Marine Biology from UNCW leading to jobs in both North Carolina and Maine, to that of snowmaker, outdoor educator, sea kayak guide, and pre-school teacher. She is a fun-loving sun-seeker who believes there is joy to be had in all aspects of life.
Returning back to the Cape Fear region, Emily is excited to connect with her community and learn what Chinese medicine can do to support them. When not at the acupuncture clinic, you can find her walking along the beach with her wise, old dog Willie Nelson, catching a live music show or biking the Greenway trails while thinking of corny jokes.
