What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a gentle, natural approach to facial rejuvenation rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

By placing fine, hair-thin needles in the face and body, this treatment helps stimulate collagen production, increase circulation, and improve skin tone and texture—all while supporting your body’s internal balance.

Unlike injectables or harsh treatments, cosmetic acupuncture works with your body, not against it. Clients often notice a brighter complexion, softened lines, reduced puffiness, and a greater sense of calm—because we treat more than just the surface. Each session also includes body points to support digestion, hormones, and stress—key players in long-term skin health.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a modern, minimally invasive treatment that encourages your skin to heal and renew itself from within.

Using a pen-like device with ultra-fine, sterile needles, microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries on the surface of the skin, which signals your body to boost collagen and elastin production.

This natural regenerative process can improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture, leaving the skin looking smoother, firmer, and more radiant. At Cape Fear Acupuncture, we pair microneedling with calming post-care, nourishing serums, and a holistic mindset—so your skin feels supported every step of the way.

Beauty That Feels Like You

Our clients choose cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling because they want more than surface results. Here's what they’ve experienced.

Alison is a truly gifted healer, and she is one of the best acupuncturists I have worked with. I recently did a series of micro needling sessions with her and was amazed by the results. My friends and family all remarked on the visible difference they saw in my skin. My skin looks younger and, as an added benefit, her sessions are relaxing and rejuvenating.

Cosmetic Acupuncture & Microneedling FAQs

Does cosmetic acupuncture hurt?
Most people find cosmetic acupuncture to be very comfortable—many even fall asleep during treatment. The needles are extremely thin and inserted gently. You may feel a light pinch or warmth, but it’s generally relaxing and pain-free.
Does microneedling hurt?
Micro-needling is fairly comfortable. Our licensed practitioner will use a pen that contains tiny needles to perform the procedure. You may notice some discomfort around areas of the face that are bonier such as your hairline, jawline, and forehead. We do apply a topical numbing cream to make the procedure as comfortable and pain-free as possible. As you continue to receive treatments, you will become more used to the sensation and it will be even more comfortable.
Is microneedling safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Microneedling is safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. We customize the treatment depth and use calming serums and numbing cream (if needed) to ensure your skin is supported every step of the way.
How many sessions will I need to see results?
While many clients see a glow after just one session, deeper improvements (like softening lines or improving scars) typically require 4–6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart. We’ll create a plan based on your skin goals.
Is there any downtime after microneedling?
You may have some redness for 24–48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Most clients return to normal activities the next day. We’ll provide clear aftercare instructions to support your skin as it heals.
What’s the difference between cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling?
Cosmetic acupuncture uses very fine needles on the face and body to improve skin tone, boost circulation, and support whole-body wellness. Microneedling uses a specialized pen to create microchannels in the skin, encouraging collagen regeneration. Both are natural, non-invasive ways to improve skin—but they work through different mechanisms and suit different goals.
